Major New Features
- Updated look and feel
- Squish has a more modern look.
- New field types
- Squish now supports three new field types: large text, user lists, and multi-value lookups. User list fields tie in with the new role system (see below).
- Issue types
- Squish now allows managers to create "types" of issues, each with their own set of fields and access permissions.
- Role-based permissions
- Squish now supports a true role system, allowing users to have one or more roles. Each role/issue type combination has permissions for viewing, submitting, commenting on, updating, and deleting issues.
- Wiki
- Squish projects now have a built-in wiki that tracks version history and supports standard comment formatting. A [wiki] formatting tag was added to create links into the wiki. Wiki pages may also be locked so that only managers can update them.
- Milestones
- A special milestone field was added. In most respects, this behaves like a standard lookup field. However, there is a new Milestones page that displays resolved/unresolved summaries for each active milestone.
- Issue workflows
- Project managers can define a set of field changes, as well as preconditions, and save them as a workflow. Issues that match all the preconditions will display a Workflow menu with the applicable workflows. Upon selecting a workflow, the user is prompted for a (configurable) set of fields, and the defined field chanegs are executed on the issue.
- Search improvements
- Many improvements were made to the search interface, including:
- Search operators, e.g. Is, Is Not, Starts With, Is Between, etc.
- Special values for (Blank), (Resolved), and (Myself)
- Calendar widget for date fields
- Group By option to group search results by a field, also displaying count totals
- Saved searches are now available anywhere via the Search dropdown
- Customizable homepage
- Users may customize their homepage for each project by selecting which saved searches they want to see.
- Statistics improvements
- It is now possible to calculate statistics on the results from a search. For the Issue Counts and Issue Grid statistics, users can now select which fields to see counts by. In addition, there are two new statistics: Updated Issues and Resolved Issues.
- Notification groups
- Project managers may set up notification groups, which are simply named lists of project members. Users will see these groups in notify dialogs, and these groups can be notified upon workflow executions.
- Cross-project dashboard
- By clicking the company name, users have access to a cross-project dashboard view of their unresolved assigned issues, as well as their watched issues, across all projects they are a member of.
- Usability and accessibility improvements
- Squish is now 508 compliant. Additionally, improvements like better keyboard navigation were made.
Changes and Minor New Features
- Issue IDs are now assigned per-project instead of per-company
- Field history is now presented inline with comments, maintaining chronological order
- The notification dialog no longer uses a popup window
- Notification emails can automatically be posted as comments to the associated issue
- Issue pages and searches now have associated RSS feeds
- Comment text boxes now have automatic previews, without requiring a page reload or popup
- Per-user date/time preferences for how to display and enter dates and times
- New user preference to collapse older issue comments; they may still be shown with a click
- New user preference to show field history in the issue timeline by default or not
- Roles have a new attribute saying whether members may be assigned issues
- New field option to allow searching on inactive lookup values
- The fields displayed in notification emails are customizable by issue type
- Company and anonymous access is now by issue type, not by project
- There is now a project setting to anonymize developer comments to non-developers
- There is a new option to hide empty columns (columns with 0 count totals) in the Issue Grid statistic
- Image attachments now display a thumbnail
- New user preference to receive notification emails on any issue the user has previously commented on
- New user preference to receive notification emails in HTML format
- New user preference to automatically BCC the user when sending notifications
- All bug actions (Watch, Email, Update, etc) have been consolidated to a single bar that stays on the page despite scrolling
- A new information "stripe" has been added to bug pages, displaying pertinent fields and color coding by status
- The "notify on update" menu has been renamed "Notify", and now remembers which users were last selected
- New option to stay logged in for 2 weeks
- A user may now stay logged in to multiple accounts simultaneously
- Saved searches retain their sort order
- New search action to add multiple issues to the user's watch list
- When mass-changing multi-value lookups, you have the option to overwrite, append, or remove values
- Company admins can select individual projects to export data for
- Better paging system for search results with many pages
- Saved searches remember if the criteria was hidden or shown
